Rancho Valencia, a luxury resort in Rancho Santa Fe that wins hospitality accolades each year, has been named by Travel + Leisure as the # 4 resort in the country, up from its 11th place in 2020.
The 45-acre property, which also ranked 35th among the best resorts in the world, was the only hotel in San Diego County to make the list of the top 15 resorts in the United States.
This year’s World’s Best Awards survey, Travel + Leisure said, was open to voting by readers from Jan.11 to May 10 this year, as destinations around the world lift COVID-19 restrictions. Each year, readers are invited to share their opinions on a variety of hospitality categories, including hotels, cruise ships, spas, and airlines.
For hotels, survey respondents could offer excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor ratings on a number of characteristics including rooms and facilities, location, service, food and the price-performance ratio.
“While the past year and a half has been incredibly difficult for our industry, it has also made us even more innovative in the way we care for our customers, taking a new approach to initiatives and experiences across the resort.” , said CEO Laura McIver. . “I am so proud and inspired by our team here at Rancho Valencia for this great ranking and the way we have been able to adapt and make the resort even better than before.”
Ranked # 2 among California beach resorts for the past three years, Rancho Valencia was not among the best resorts in the world last year, but was ranked 72nd in 2019. In the category of best California resorts, San Diego County’s only other property at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Carlsbad, which holds 12th place, is among the top 15 resorts for 2021.
Rancho La Puerta, a well-known Tecate spa for 80 years, also received a major accolade and was recognized as the # 1 international destination spa. It was also the best spa in 2020.
